12 Pubs of Christmas pub crawl 2009

Squad:
Antony, Cameron, Carla, Fiona, George, Jack, Jenni, Jonathon, Kamila, Lucy H, Phil, Rob W, Simon M

. Route for 2009 saw a welcome return of the Maypole, Free Press and the Mitre, after three years out, while Quinns has disappeared from the list after being included for the last two years. The Elm Tree, Clarendon Arms and St Radegund are the only pubs to feature in all of the past five 12 pubs of Christmas.

. Highlights from 2009 must include; the magical snow (so very Christmassy), the running snowball fight between Clarendon Arms and the St Radegund (very reminiscent of the gun battle in Heat), almost getting thrown out of the Eagle for being too rowdy, and then getting thrown out of the Cow (for some chocolate and/or ice-throwing related incident).

. Congratulations to George, who was the only one to make it to all 12 official pubs plus the 3 bonus pubs (obviously working on some kind of pagan calendar).

. A selection of drinks that participants partook of included: bottles of lager, glasses of wine, 7%Belgium beer (yum), pints of ale, B-52s, white russians (which turned out to be pints), whisky, and gin and tonics.

. We had five boat races to find the best drinker. It turned out to be a boy, under 30, who was born in the north, and lives outside of Cambridge. So obviously it is Jonathon.

. Congratulations to Lucy H, Jenni and Fiona for winning the Christmas song anagrams competition. Although they were outfoxed by O’Christmas Tree, O’Christmas Tree (probably because there wasn’t enough letters in the anagram).

. If anyone can remember if someone“won”the bucket, please let me know.

. Lastly, the“guest”korfballer from another team this year was Andy Thornley, who was found in the Free Press (singing really badly).
