The now traditional curtain raiser to the season was an interesting battle between the first and second teams fielding very different teams to last time the two sides met due to players being missing due to injury, out of cambridge etc.

No goals were scored for quite a while before Tiger Phil gave City 2 the lead. City 1 recovered and managed to establish a slender 5-2 lead by half-time. 

City 2 had no answer for the early part of the second half as City 1 built up the lead to 10-2. However, they never gave up and scored 4 goals near the end to make the final score 12-6 to City 1. The blokes dominated the scoring with 14 of the 18 goals scored.
