Gearing themselves up for a tough match against the league champions, City looked surprised to be competitive right from the outset. Leaking a few in the early stages, but always managing to stay within 2 goals, City staged a fightback to finish the first half level at 8-8.

Nick's division struggled to score, but defended tightly and managed to put the squeeze on Invicta. Some valiant defending from Rob W and Si at the other end upset two of Invicta's danger players.

Many of the goals came from penalties, with a very whistle-happy but pleasingly clad ref (wearing Carla's City training shirt!).

Invicta pulled ahead near the end, and ended up winning by 3 - not a bad result for City, but disappointing as we were clearly competitive and could have had the game right up to the dying minutes.
