The sessions are run in accordance with the principles of Long Term Athlete Development, focusing on FUNdamental skills, rather than sport specific training, effectively, therefore, offering a Multi-sports Programme.
Each training session includes exercises to assist the development of Body & Space Awareness, Travelling & Locomotor Skills / Directions & Pathways, Balancing, Jumping & Landing, Evasion, Ball Handling, Throwing, Catching and Teamwork. Parental involvement is actively encouraged, particularly with the younger children.
Cambridge City Tykes is open to all children (boys and girls) between the ages of three and six. Training is on the first Sunday of the month, 17:00-17:45 at Hills Road Sports Centre, Cambridge. Cost is £2. After each meeting, the children have a party tea (drinks, sandwiches, savoury snacks, fruit and some goodies too), which is included in the cost.
