Date: 17/01/2010

First attack: Jack, Andy, Carla, Rach
First defence: Simon, Rob, Janine, Trace

Noted absence: Nick Collier (how did we ever manage!!)

As the second match in less than a week against the old enemy, it was expected that Tigers would come firing on all cylinders following their earlier defeat. As it was, the match was again closely fought with neither team pulling away by more than a few goals in the first half.

The second half, however, saw City really showing their colours. City pulled away with a 6 goal lead with decisive attacking structure and confident, hard-nosed defending. Tigers were stumped but called a time-out with 4 minutes to go. With 6 goals in-hand Janine noted that unless they scored over a goal a minute, City would be the victors. With the maths not on their side Tigers scored two, but it was too little too late – City were the winners 15-12 giving them an overall 2 wins, 1 draw result to the local derby within the regional league.

Excellent defence by Janine on Francis until her ankle injury with 2 minutes to go. Also some great attacking from the whole team. For this game Carla appears to have taken teammate Nick’s absence to heart and scored his four goals for him.

Great result guys!
