First defence: John R, Simon C, Sabine, Caroline

10 pm (a cold, dark, damp evening and that was inside at Kelsey Kerridge!).

C5 deserved to win or at least draw this match but, unfortunately. we lost 4-3 against the new kids on the Uni block but they failed to tire us even at this late hour. 

We actually went ahead early on thro' Caroline and, though we fell 3-1 behind midway through the first half, we were always in the game. Caroline scored her and our second (running-in) to make it 3-2 at half-time.

Unfortunately, Caroline spent most of the second half in defence (20 mins!?) so missed out on scoring a hat-trick. Uni pulled 4-2 ahead early in the second half but eventually we pulled it back to 4-3 through Steve H with about 10 minutes left. With Mary in attack we were always threatening to equalise (especially from a free pass where I swear they moved the post!) and created far more chances than Uni were at the other end where JR, SS, CE and SC were giving nothing away with some excellent defending and shouting, especially by Sabine (!?).

Well-played everyone: shame, perhaps, that we were honest and told the ref at one stage that the score was in fact 4-2 to Uni and not 3-all, as he had it, otherwise we would have won 4-3, as we deserved!
