Juniors show off their skills
19/05/2009
Junior Skills Awards:
Korfball promotes the
development of the children’s physical, mental, moral, social and
cultural wellbeing. By playing this mixed“invasion”game, children will
learn how to throw and catch a ball, score a goal, use space, apply the
tactics of attacking and defending and co-operate as team members.
While
taking part in the Korfball Skills Awards Scheme, children are
acquiring, developing, selecting and applying techniques. They will be
able to create compositional ideas and tactics which they can then
evaluate and, hopefully, use to improve the performance of their team.
The Awards also emphasise and encourage the knowledge and understanding of the benefits of good health, fitness and safety.
The
scheme has been cross-referenced with National Curriculum Key Stages
1-4 and allows for differentiation in abilities and maturities so that
a player can work through the tasks at his or her own pace. This
hopefully will encourage both children and adults to participate in
this award scheme.
